Congratulations to the Hastings County Historical Society

We made it – $268,000!

The Hastings County Historical Society exceeded its promise to deliver a quarter of a million dollars to help build a new community archives for Belleville and Hastings County. At a ceremony on Thursday, Orland French, chair of the Society’s capital campaign, presented a cheque for $268,000 to County Warden Rick Phillips and Mayor Taso Christopher. The presentation marked the beginning of construction of the Archives within the library building on Pinnacle Street, Belleville. The Archives, after many years of searching for a permanent roost, are expected to open in November. Currently they are functioning at the Heritage Centre on Cannifton Road. Photo by Donna Fano.

Keeping you up-to-date

As an author and publisher of books about the history of Hastings County, Ontario, Canada I realized that a book cannot be definitive. No matter what I, or others, write about history in our county, further information will always come out afterwards.

With this blog I can keep those who have purchased our books up-to-date on new information and research which has come to light after the book has been purchased.

It also provides the opportunity to tell stories that may not fit into book formats.
